If you suffer from a disability and are denied access to a business because of it, the only current recourse, short of notifying the owner (who may have no idea who to turn to), is to file a lawsuit. This can take a lot of time and effort, and ultimately cause suspicion and resentment from business owners.

With Barrier Watch, you won’t have to go through that! Here’s all you have to do:

During the first thirty days, the barriers of the business in question will be publicly posted on our website, but the identity of the business will remain anonymous. If a business owner sincerely wants to remove the barrier, we are more than willing to grant an extension (up to an additional 60 days) so that the barrier can be removed in a timely fashion. After the barrier has been removed, a progress update will be made on the entry and the business can advertise itself as ‘barrier-free’. The identity of the business will be posted regardless of the result. It is important that the necessity of ADA compliance receives as much public attention as possible.

We will never engage in litigation and we cannot accept donations or contributions. Furthermore, we will never accept a ’settlement’ in place of the barrier being removed. We can and do provide referrals to accessibility consultants so that the business owner can remove the barrier in the correct fashion.
